Here are our answers to your most frequently asked questions:

What are the opening times?
The restaurant is open every day, excluding our annual period of closure from mid-December to mid-January.

When is dinner served?
Dinner is currently served from 5.30pm every evening until the end of March and then from 6pm until the end of October. Lunch is served daily from 12.00pm, April until end of October.

The Kitchen Table is available for reservations every evening at 6.30pm (7pm during the summer). This is a communal table for up to 8 guests.

What about specific dietary requirements?
We embrace individual dietary requirements as a creative and culinary challenge. We really appreciate advance notification through our Reception Team at the point of booking. We make every effort to provide exciting choices for vegetarians and other dietary preferences with our A la Carte menu. We are also ready to help and advise those with food allergies and intolerances. Our Kitchen Table experience is unfortunately unable to cater for any dietary requirements.

Are table Reservations necessary?
Reservations for tables in the restaurant are essential for both lunch and dinner. These will be reconfirmed the day before you are due to dine with us. Please note, those reserving accommodation with us in The House Over-By are automatically allocated a table in the Restaurant.

Please be aware that we have a strict chargeable cancellation policy for anyone who does not arrive for their reservation without letting us know in advance. Our exact terms and conditions are fully communicated at the point of booking.

Do you offer terms for exclusive use?
We are a small establishment, but are very happy to discuss this with you on a one-to-one basis. It is always our pleasure to talk to you about your plans and we encourage you to get in touch direct by email: erica@threechimneys.co.uk

Do you provide wedding facilities?
We are very happy to assist you with your plans for a Skye wedding. We can offer exclusive use of our accommodation and cater for your wedding breakfast for a limited number of guests. Please do not hesitate to email erica@threechimneys.co.uk. We are also a perfect honeymoon destination!

Is there a dress code?
Our dress code is smart casual, as we know most people are on holiday. Gentlemen are not required to wear a jacket and tie, but vests, shorts and flip-flops may be regarded as inappropriate attire, particularly by your fellow diners!

Are Children Welcome?
All children are welcome to dine with their parents for lunch, which is slightly more informal. In the evening, children over the age of eight can dine with us. Dining at the Kitchen Table is not suitable for children under 16 years of age.

Is there a Minimum Charge for Children?
We do not offer a Children's Menu as such, but we are happy to adapt dishes to suit younger tastes. We make no cover charge for babies or toddlers using our highchairs, except a nominal amount for any specific requests such as bread, soup or ice cream. Half portions of the Menu dishes can be requested for children at Lunch or Dinner and will be charged at 50% discount.

What about Children staying in The House Over-By?
Please note that children under eight years of age will not be permitted to eat in the restaurant at dinner, but, with advance notice, we can organise a children’s tea in The House Over-by at 5.00pm to 5:30pm instead of Dinner in the Restaurant.

Is there a local taxi service?
Yes there are local taxis available. We can provide details and advice on travelling to and from the restaurant if you contact us direct on 01470 511258.

Can you recommend alternative places to stay nearby?
Of course we can and we are very happy to do so! Please telephone the Reception Team on 01470 511258 for more information.

How do I reserve accommodation?

What time is check-in at The House Over-By?
Check-in is from 3.00pm every afternoon.

Can I arrange champagne or other special gifts?
Our reception team are here to ensure that your stay is a memorable one. If you are joining us to celebrate a special occasion and require any specific touches arranged to make your stay all the more personal, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance. This could be anything from champagne on ice in your room upon arrival, a bouquet of flowers, or help with reserving something such as a special day out experiencing Skye, perhaps a guided walk, or a boat trip. The list is endless, so please just ask. We are always very happy to help.

Are dogs Allowed?
We are dog friendly however guests must enquire for availability prior to making a booking. Please ask for a copy of our dog policy prior to booking to ensure our offering is suitable to your needs. Please note, dogs are not accepted in the Restaurant.

Do you provide laundry facilities?
Unfortunately, we are too remote to provide laundry or dry-cleaning facilities. Our rooms are equipped with an iron and ironing board.

Can I store my bicycle safely?
The House Over-By car park is private and safe overnight. If you wish, we can keep bicycles indoors, but we are limited for space.

Do you have drying facilities for walking gear?
Yes, we can assist you with drying wet-weather gear and walking boots overnight.

Do you have local maps and information?
Our reception team can provide local information and advice on many things, or suggest ideas for places to visit and a wide variety of activities and experiences all over the island. We can print off local walks and maps for you during your stay.

Do you have Wi-Fi?
High speed Wi-Fi is free for our guests and customers throughout the premises. Mobile signal may be patchy while you are travelling, but we have direct dial telephones in our bedrooms and make no charge for local or UK calls.
